Historic legislation aimed at addressing the nation’s opioid overdose epidemic passes House and Senate

Historic legislation aimed at addressing the nation’s opioid overdose epidemic has now passed both the House and Senate and is expected to be signed into law by the President shortly. Thank you to all who wrote their legislators in support of this important measure.

The SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act (H.R. 6) includes key provisions to bolster the country’s addiction treatment workforce, provide standardized, evidence-based SUD treatment, and ensure that coverage and payment models facilitate continuity of care for patients with substance use disorder.

Please take a moment to thank your Members of Congress who voted to pass this vital legislation and united with their colleagues around bold policy solutions to increase access to evidence-based addiction treatment for patients and their families.

Thank you for your continued efforts and support of ASAM.
